It is with great pleasure that we report that the proposed change to the E visa validity period for French nationals will not take effect.
Our firm has been closely monitoring announcements related to the changing reciprocity schedule for E visa classifications for France. On August 20, 2019, the U.S. Department of State announced that the validity period of E-1 an E-2 visas issued to French foreign nationals would be reduced to 15 months, drastically reduced from a maximum period of 5 years (or 60 months).
Later that same month, it was announced that the policy roll-out date would be delayed, taking effect on September 26, 2019 instead of August 29, 2019.
Green and Spiegel has since confirmed that the proposed change has been put on hold and French nationals can continue to obtain the E-1 and E-2 visa classification for up to 60 months at a time.
