In light of the dire humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have started to roll out certain supports to Ukrainian nationals and Canadian citizens and permanent resident residing in Ukraine. These supports include:

  • Urgently processing new and replacement passports and travel documents for Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Ukraine
  • Prioritizing applications for visitor visas, work permits, study permits, permanent residence (including applications for family sponsorship), proof of citizenship, and citizenship grant through adoption from people who currently live in Ukraine
  • Waiving fees for certain applications, such as Canadian passports, permanent resident travel documents, proofs of citizenship, visitor visas, and work and study permits

Canada does not yet have a program specifically dedicated to resettling refugees from Ukraine. However, additional measures and supports may be introduced in the coming days as the situation continues to evolve.

If you have any questions about the ongoing situation in Ukraine, please contact our office.
