Bio

Madison Gateman is an Associate Lawyer at Green and Spiegel LLP in Toronto. Her practice focuses primarily on representing corporations and various organizations to facilitate the entry of personnel into Canada, including work authorization. She also assists corporate and individual clients with all aspects of immigration law in Canada, including business visitor applications, work permits and work permit exemptions, electronic travel authorizations, visitor visas, as well as applications for citizenship and permanent residence, including sponsorship applications and humanitarian and compassionate applications.

Madison specializes in complex personal immigration issues involving admissibility and enforcement matters, including legal opinion letters, procedural fairness letter responses, and applications for criminal rehabilitation, temporary resident permits, and ministerial relief. She also regularly represents clients with litigation matters before the Federal Court of Canada, the Provincial Court, and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB). This includes judicial review applications for negative decisions made by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), admissibility hearings, sponsorship appeals, refugee appeals, mandamus applications for delayed applications, deferral requests and stays of removal, detention reviews, and permanent residence obligation appeals.

Madison graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School. She is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. She was called to the Ontario Bar after completing her summer term and articles at Green and Spiegel LLP. Prior to law school, Madison completed her Masters degree at Dalhousie University, where she focused on Canadian immigration.
