Bio
Mendel Green, Q.C., is the founding partner of Green and Spiegel LLP in Toronto and a member of the Ontario Bar.
In 1974, he was appointed Queen’s Counsel. The Canadian LEXPERT Legal Directory has pointed out that Mendel Green is considered “the dean of immigration by Canada’s Immigration Bar” and referred to him as a ”leading Toronto immigration practitioner, most frequently recommended.” Mendel has been named as a leading Canadian Corporate Immigration Attorney in the Who’s Who Legal of Corporate Immigration, as well as selected by The Best Lawyers in Canada editions for the specialty of Immigration Law as well as Best Immigration Lawyer (Toronto) for 2014.
Mendel is considered a subject matter expert in all aspects of the immigration law, representing clients in all aspects of immigration law. In one of his most prominent case rulings, Singh vs. The Minister of Employment and Immigration, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down the former refugee hearing system and a new and fair process was implemented requiring the Immigration and Refugee Board to give an oral hearing to any claimant. The decision in this case was one of the most important administrative law decisions of the century.
