In a recent Forbes article examining the Department of Homeland Security’s expansion of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) law enforcement authorities, Dan Berger cautioned that the changes could effect both employers and foreign nationals. He emphasized that USCIS was created as a benefits agency, not an enforcement body, and that the addition of armed personnel risks blurring the lines with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), creating fear for applicants and raising new risks for employers.
