Shannon A. McGuire boasts a broad range of legal experience across corporate law, federal litigation, and multinational corporate and family-based immigration matters. Beginning her legal career at an AmLaw 200 law firm in Philadelphia, Shannon handled complex corporate litigation matters before focusing exclusively on immigration law at a boutique immigration firm in New Jersey. Since that time, Shannon has continued to assist both large and small employers (medical, pharmaceutical, tech, agriculture) to employ and retain their top foreign talent, and assist families to remain together in the U.S. through both family and humanitarian visa options. Whether preparing employment-based visas such as H-1B, L-1, and O-1, or advising corporate and individual clients on permanent employer-petitioned and self-petitioned visa options, Shannon’s ability to synthesize complex legal issues and develop persuasive, evidence-driven filings distinguishes her in high-stakes immigration matters to anticipate government scrutiny and proactively address challenges in filings, RFEs, and appeals.
Before practicing law, Shannon worked abroad in both Peru and Spain teaching English in bilingual classrooms to middle, high school, and college students through local education departments, and volunteered with children and families of the Syrian refugee crisis in Lesvos, Greece. Shannon continued to work with vulnerable populations during law school, interning with local legal aid agencies to provide immigration counsel and volunteering on the U.S.-Mexico border. Fluent in Spanish, Shannon studied international humanitarian law and transitional justice in Bogotá, Colombia after the Colombian Armed Conflict and researched and presented on unaccompanied minors, transnational criminal gang recruitment, and interior U.S. security through Temple Law’s Law and Public Policy Program.
Throughout her career, Shannon has remained dedicated to fiercely advocating for her clients, whether in petitions and responses to RFEs before USCIS, adversarial immigration proceedings, USCIS field office interviews, or appeals before appellate immigration bodies, Shannon’s breadth of experience positions her as a well-rounded, strategic, and highly effective immigration lawyer.
