Celebrating Canada Day 2021

Celebrating Canada Day 2021

Canada Day has been a holiday where notions of independence and acceptance have been celebrated, where we have come together to celebrate the diversity and strength of Canada. Now more than ever before, July 1st represents a chance for Canadians to come together to learn about and reflect upon our country’s history and culture. Though we still celebrate Canada and its achievements, our focus surrounds ways in which indigenous culture can be recognized, celebrated, and appreciated this year and for years to come.

There is much for Canada to be proud of but there is considerable work to be done when acknowledging indigenous peoples. Let us celebrate Canada’s multiculturalism and diversity while continuing to learn about indigenous culture and history.
