U.S. Consulates in Canada Suspend Third Country National Visa Processing for Summer

June 6, ?2014 ? Effective immediately, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is ending the exemption for employers looking to hire foreign graduates of Canadian universities and colleges who hold expiring Post-Grad Work Permits (PGWP). This means that?employers seeking to hire individuals transitioning from the PGWP will now first be required to recruit and advertise for those positions as per the standard Labour Market Opinion process. The LMO is a procedural mechanism by which an employer must demonstrate that a labour shortage exists prior to hiring a foreign worker.

Employers should plan ahead and allow sufficient to fulfill the ?Recruiting and Advertising? requirement in order to obtain a positive LMO.
