Honoring Leadership in International Education: Dan Berger Receives NAFSA Distinguished Service Award

Green and Spiegel, U.S. is proud to announce that NAFSA: Association of International Educators has selected Partner Dan Berger as the recipient of the prestigious 2026 Distinguished Service to NAFSA Award.

The Distinguished Service to NAFSA Award, in honor of Homer Higbee and Marita Houlihan, recognizes a current NAFSA member who has demonstrated sustained leadership and meaningful contributions to the field of international education. For nearly three decades, Dan Berger has been an active and influential member of the NAFSA community, supporting international students, scholars, and the professionals who serve them.

“It has been an honor to be affiliated with NAFSA for almost 30 years,” said Berger. “NAFSA members play a crucial role in advising international students and scholars on the latest immigration trends. They help make sure campuses have good information to help create strong support systems to attract and retain international talent.”

Dan will be formally recognized for this achievement during the NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference and Expo this May, where international education professionals from around the world gather to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance the field.

As the largest and most comprehensive association dedicated to international education, NAFSA plays a vital role in fostering global understanding, supporting academic exchange, and advancing policies that benefit students and institutions alike. This recognition highlights not only Dan’s individual contributions, but also Green and Spiegel’s broader commitment to supporting the international education community through thoughtful, informed immigration counsel.
