Small Business and Startups

Helping your business succeed

Immigration procedures for new and small businesses can be especially challenging. Smaller companies do not have the same legal resources as larger entities. Immigration petitions and applications filed by new businesses are treated with great scrutiny – as a matter of law and in day-to-day adjudications – compared to those filed by their larger counterparts.

Based on our institutional experience and the needs of our small business clientele, Green and Spiegel has developed a different approach than most other multinational law firms. We take a far more personal tact – we endeavor to understand your business fully and your specific needs as a startup entrepreneur or small business owner/manager. Based on our experience representing hundreds of companies like yours, we are able to craft proactive immigration solutions that are both cost-effective and efficient for both your enterprise and your employees.

In addition to putting in place strong immigration policies at your company from the very beginning, it is equally important to ensure that key foreign nationals are able to work legally for your company in the United States. Although larger companies might more frequently find themselves in the crosshairs of a government compliance audit, it is never too early to reduce your company’s risk.

Whether it is creating a long-term immigration policy, helping with document maintenance or processing visas for key employees, Green and Spiegel is the perfect firm to keep you focused on what matters most – your business. Our attorneys remain available to provide you with the answers you need to your questions. With all you have to worry about in launching and operating a small business, our goal is to make any intersections with the immigration law as painless as possible.

When you contact us, we take the following steps:

  • Evaluate your long-term goals and circumstances, and/or those of your employees, with respect to living and working in the U.S.
  • Recommend the most suitable visa category (whether non-immigrant or immigrant) and explain the process and requirements with the greatest likelihood of success
  • Provide ongoing guidance, advice and submission services for every step of the immigration process.

For our start-up and small business clients, we think of ourselves as immigration concierges. Whenever you have a question or concern, we are only a telephone call/email away.

The revisions to the form were largely technical in nature. The specific modifications to Form I-9 have been documented in greater detail in a post we published on July 21.
