The Biden Administration has announced that it will offer Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to an estimated 300,000 Venezuelans living in the United States. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, announced the designation on behalf of the Administration, authorizing TPS for eighteen months, or until September of 2022. On Tuesday, June 4th, the majority Democratic House of Representatives passed legislation to open up a pathway to citizenship for roughly 2.5 million immigrants. The bill, H.R.6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, was introduced in March of this year and passed 237 to 187. Learn more in this blog.
