Following its March 18 announcement that it would cancel “routine in-person services” through the end of the month, USCIS confirmed yesterday that it would cancel an additional week of such services. Accordingly, the Service will reschedule all interviews, appointments, naturalization ceremonies, and other face-to-face encounters through April 6, 2020, with plans to re-open on April 7. Emergency services do remain available on a case-by-case basis. USCIS advised that it will send out new notices advising individuals of their new appointments, except that InfoPass appointments must be re-scheduled through the USCIS Contact Center. Further, the USCIS confirmed that individual Field Offices may be completely closed depending on local conditions. Meanwhile, USCIS’ national Service Centers remain operational, and as such all expiration dates remain effective and extensions or renewals must arrive in compliance with applicable regulations to be considered timely-filed.
