President Obama has decided to delay taking executive action to grant benefits to undocumented immigrants until after November elections. Even though the President made strong statements that he would announce his plans by the end of the summer, public fears about immigration have persuaded him to wait.
At the beginning of summer, Americans felt frustrated by an ineffective and decision locked congress, and felt a real need for immigration changes. But public support for immigration reform eroded over the next few months as thousands of children crossed the border from Latin America into the U.S.
President Obama now states that he plans to take action by the end of the year if Congress does not act on their own.
