Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) issued a news release today indicating that a large number of visas had been issued from Visa Offices in Chandigarh and New Delhi. In particular, CIC stated that they issued 84,672 visitor visas and 13,613 study permits from these two offices between January and December 2013.
The news release also examined the new tools and methods in place to facilitate travel between Canada and India. For example, multiple-entry visas were extended from 5 to 10 years, which allows visitors to enter and exit Canada for up to 6 months at a time. The Business Express Program (BEP), a program in place since June 2008, also facilitates links between Canada and India in order to allow qualified businesses and employees, service advantages (i.e. less paperwork, priority processing of applications, and dedicated service for those in the program).
