Changes to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program Announced

Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney has announced upcoming changes to the Canadian Experience Class. These changes will make it such that skilled workers may apply for permanent residence with less Canadian work experience than before, and international students will have more time to acquire the necessary experience to apply for permanent residence.

Beginning January 2, 2013, skilled workers may apply under the Canadian Experience Class with only 12 months of Canadian work experience instead of the previously required 24 months. Also, graduates will have up to 36 months to earn the required one year of work experience compared to only 24 months previously required.
