EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW 140 & 141

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada is committed to reaching its immigration targets for 2020. Yesterday, the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced two Express Entry draws in the same day.

The first draw (141) was held at 14:14:53 UTC on April 9th for Express Entry candidates with existing provincial nominations. 606 candidates received an invitation to apply (ITA) that had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 698. A decrease of 22 points compared to the previous Provincial Nominee Program draw held on March 18.

These CRS score may seem high but candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 CRS points which explain the spike in required points.

IRCC applied its tie-breaking rule with the timestamp of December 18, 2019 at 11:29:51 UTC. This simply means that all candidates with a CRS score of 698 or above, and previous candidates with a score of 698 or above who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before the selected tie-breaking date and time will receive an invitation in this round.

The second draw (142) was announced later in the day at 17:36:14 UTC. IRCC invited 3,294 applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 464 or higher to apply for permanent residence. The most recent draw brings bring the total number of invitations issued in 2020 through Canada’s Express Entry system to 26,500.

IRCC applied its tie-breaking rule with the timestamp of January 4, 2020 at 12:16:45 UTC. This simply means that all candidates with a CRS score of 464 or above, and previous candidates with a score of 464 or above who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before the selected tie-breaking date and time will receive an invitation in this round.
