Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have updated their website to confirm that the Parents and Grandparents Program will be opening in late January.

In August 2018, IRCC announced that it will accept 20,000 applications for the sponsorship of parents and grandparents in 2019, up from 17,000 in 2018. This program will be available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents meeting the eligibility requirements who wish to sponsor their parents/grandparents.

A key eligibility requirement is demonstrating that certain minimum income requirements are met, evidence that the sponsor can financially support their dependents and the applicant(s). Applicants being sponsored must also meet immigration requirements.

As the Parents and Grandparents Program is now operating on a first come first serve basis it’s important to contact us as soon as possible to ensure you are well prepared for this extremely popular program.

We will be monitoring the situation very closely so keep an eye out on our social media accounts to stay up to date on any further news.
